A Casino Theme Networker

Hello lovelies, hope you are all well on this fabulous Friday morning! Today I will be working on a corporate event for Execs in the City, that is being held next month at the amazing G Casino in Sheffield. Go and check it out its super!!!

Its going to be an epic evening, with a gorgeous menu, tailored especially for the event. A poker lesson, free chips and then a poker game! (This part I am not looking forward to, I have never played poker before so the lesson beforehand will be useful!). I've really enjoyed working with Execs in the City this year and have some truly awesome events planned over the next 12 months including a corporate weekend away (more about that one later). I wanted to look at some casino theme ideas, to put a little spin on the evening!!

You can dress your tables with playing card cut out's, or something a little more subtle like the dice candles. (via shindigz)

You cannot imagine the excitement, when one of my suppliers released the Belle and Boo range. I absolutely adore these vintage inspired illustrations. Belle & Boo heads up a collection of artworks from the imagination of illustrator Mandy Sutcliffe.

Belle & Boo are two of Mandy’s favourite characters. Belle with her bobbed hair, bright eyes and wearing vintage clothing, is insistently curious about the world around her, and based on elements of Mandy as a child.

Essence of Orange

Good morning lovelies, hope you are all well on this fresh friday morning! Today I wanted to share with you some ideas for injecting a touch of orange into your wedding.

I'm sure you all know by now that Orange is going to be a huge hit throughout 2012, and while some of us adore the bold colours, there is a more subtle way of incorporating this throughout your day for those of us not so confident in carrying it off.

Try to softer shades of orange and team with dusky pinks, soft yellows and a few hits of the more bolder shades for a shabby chic setting. Try using bold orange shades against crisp whites, and creams.

You can also add a bit of fun with the orange shades throughout your wedding, by using for wedding favours or even painting your nails!!!

Hope you lovelies have some ideas now to incorporate a little orange chic into your own special occasion.

My Curious Friend

Its always nice when you receive a little gift, a card or a happy smile. Today I have the hugest smile on my face, because I received my gorgeous Curiosity Project box. I wasn't expecting it at all so it was such a lovely surprise.

I could not wait to open it, but I made sure I had a cup of herbal tea and my camera ready!!!

I loved all the little messages wrote on the box, and I loved the fact that my box was recycled!! I love recycling and upcycling things. It really grates on me sometimes the 'throw away" society in which we live, especially when even the simplest of things can be made into little treasures.

The first little gift in my curiosity box is some beautiful textured handmade paper, tied with a piece of lilac ribbon.

The next thing in my curiosity box is some paper packaging (which by the way was used for something - just wait and see!)

Cute woven ribbon with a snowflake design, perfect for a little idea I have for some handmade Christmas tree decorations for next year.

An orange - a lovely gift from a bygone era!!! Also Joshua's favourite fruit so no doubt he will smuggle it into his lunch box tomorrow :)

Inside one were these cute little frames, which I absolutely adore! I am in the middle of renovating/decorating our new apartment and I want my hallway filled with vintage photograph frames so they will be perfect!!!

"Just because it was cute" *I agree :)*

A beautiful blue beanie bear, we've named Bertie who will live in Joshua's room along with the other teddy bears! I haven't seen a beanie bear in such a long time, so this reminded me of being a kid pestering my mum and dad for the latest beanie bear that I really, really, really needed.

A set of quirky postcards from a local artist close to my curious friend.

A Bergamot Candle in a pretty box, I love scented candles so this was fabulous!!

A tiny tub of cocoa butter - yum!!! Locally produced near to my curious friend, I cant wait to use this. Cocoa Butter is divine and this one smells heavenly

Some raspberry tea for a busy mum. Perfect and refreshingly lovely - I've just finished my first cup.

Homemade fudge and nuts - Scrummy!!! I think me and Mr Lee will be fighting over this later. Again this was carefully wrapped with some lilac ribbon, in baking parchment.

A vintage cake decorating book! Its amazing I've quickly skimmed and there are some brilliant ideas in there, for me and Joshua to try out. I'm also a book worm so any book I treasure, its just so happens this one is on one of our family's favourite subjects - Cake!!

Last but not at all least a crayoned picture by my curious friends 18 month Son. Taking pride of place in my office. What a little Super Star :)

So that was my Curiosity Project box, I love each and every item. I love the thought and care that went into my box, and the fact that I can share my little treats with my family. Happy Birthday not so Small Fry!!!

Today is Joshua's birthday, he was born weighing a healthy 7.13lbs. I cant believe how quickly the years have passed and how proud I am that my little baby is growing up into a well mannered, polite and handsome young boy.

I thought that today I would do something a little different and look at Birthday Cakes for little boys starting from age one right up to 11, reflecting on how much Joshua has changed over the years. So here you go my top 11 Birthday Cakes for little boys, enjoy!

I love this cake its bright its fun and its perfect for a first birthday party. Joshua had a bob the builder cake for his first birthday, he sat in his high chair and demolished it before any one else had the chance to grab a slice.

By two he was massively into animals, cows (moo moo's) sheeps, piggy wiggys, ducks were his favourite. In fact he went through a phase of calling everything a duck duck. So for a farm/animal crazy little boy a farm themed cake would be perfect!

Im sure that all little boys at some point love Thomas the Tank Engine well around three Joshua thought that choo choo's were the best thing ever! He had his own version of a TT Cake but this one is amazing! I love the little Thomas and Percy Cupcakes.

By 4 Joshua loved Woody from Toy Story, he had the figures that spoke and he took them everywhere with him. I can remember him once pushing around Woody in a pram (but shhhh dont tell him I told you all!)

At five years old everything was about Spiderman, he had the web shooter, the action figures, the books, the suit complete with foam muscles. He loved Spiderman so much he refused to be called Joshua Green, it had to be Joshua Red, not green for green goblin.

For a sixth birthday I think that Ben 10 is perfect, most little boys like Ben 10, he was certainly a hit in our home.

All kids love Lego, ok let me say that again, most people like Lego its great! Its fun, its educational and its timeless. Joshua absolutely loves lego he has masses of the stuff. So thats why I think for a 7th birthday cake a Lego theme is ideal!

The next phase were pirates, Joshua had a pirate and princesses themed party with around 40 children it was chaos! He would have loved this cake, its perfect for a little ship mate, dont you think?

Now I know that this cake could appeal to many ages, the classic falcon warrior from Star Wars. Poor Joshua didn't get a cake like this amazing creation though, he had to make do with a Storm Trooper for his ninth birthday!

He is still a massive fan of Pokemon, and he would have loved this cake last year. I love the cake and cupcake combination going on, and I guess a lot of ten year old birthday boys (and girls) would love this Pokemon Theme Cake.

The last cake in my top 11 cakes is this AMAZING playstation 3 creation, complete with pad, blackberry and spilt Pepsi. Josh would have gone crazy for this cake today!! I also believe he would quite happily bankrupt me by adding the real things onto his list *sorry small fry, maybe one day if I ever win the lotto ;)*

Wow, can you guys believe its already 2012 or twenty twelve, I never know which one to use, what do you think sounds better?

2011 was such a hard year for me, but without dragging up all the negatives and boring all you lovely readers, I wanted to reflect on the AMAZING things that happened for Little White Book Events.

Well we had a little make over for a start and now have a shiny beautiful new logo, we also have an amazing new look on the website. Have you seen it yet? Go on and have a nosy {{click here}} I would love to hear what you think of it.

We had some awesome events and beautiful weddings, we landed a huge corporate contract, we met some of the nicest people in the industry, we set up a little boutique....

If you read the blog regularly or follow me on twitter {{@LWBevents}} then you will know how much I love to make things, I've always been crafty, obviously not in a sneaky kind of way ha ha ha. After been told by friends that I ought to sell my wares I thought well why not, might as well give it a go. Well The Little Event Boutique took off on an epic scale, I now work with a few top UK based suppliers of event and party items, which are now stocked in The Little Event Boutique as well as the crafty items I love making.

So what to expect from Little White Book Events through 2012, well we are still very much doing the event management, we are still doing wedding planning, but we will also be concentrating on The Little Event Boutique bringing handmade affordable treats for weddings and events around the world.

Its an exciting year ahead, and I am excited to be able to share it with you. I wish each and everyone of you, good health, wealth, happiness and good luck with your own journeys through 2012

Perfect Peach Shabby Chic Baby Shower

Well it seems like this month all my friends are 'popping out' little cherubs left, right and centre. There is nothing more magical than a new baby to your family, hmmmm, you say I think this one is getting broody and you are probably right!!

So as well as day dreaming of becoming Mamma Walton, with my fifteen children living in the hills, I also started thinking about Baby Showers. Americans certainly know how to throw a party for blooming mums to be, but its not that often celebrated here in the UK. Its such a shame, celebrating the arrival of a little baby into your life is a marvellous experience!

I put together a inspiration board for a perfectly peach shabby chic baby shower, I love the ethereal and whimiscal feel of the event, and look closely how freaking sweet are the nappy pin favours. Oh so beautiful!!!

From the bin..... to beautiful

Hello lovelies and happy Wednesday! So today I wanted to share with you a couple of little project I've been working on for The Little Event Boutique.

It all started when one of my friends told me she needed a bouquet for her destination wedding as all the venue could offer was a bunch of carnations, that would cost her an extortionate amount.

Being quite a crafty person I thought about the boxes and boxes of waste/scrap materials and lace I have hoarded away and how I could recycle them to make something truly unique and magical.

The silk flowers are hand rolled and stitched and finished off with buttons, beads and pearls from my 'button tin'.

Once I started I was on a roll and tried using different textures, with this bouquet I wanted to go for a more vintage feel and thought the colours (an old bridesmaid dress hem) would be perfect!

There are also elements of chiffon, again waste material from an old dress.

The lace from this bouquet was picked up from a charity shop and was rather dirty. It was rescued with the help of a saucepan and teabag and the result was stunning!

The last bouquet is again made from waste material, a mixture of chiffon and silks in a summery turquoise colour teamed with striking white.

The edges of this bouquet have been overlocked to give a more finished edge and not as many pearls.

There are pieces of waste lace to make tiny flowers which have cute turquoise pearls.

Isn't it just amazing what you can do with waste items, I'm very pleased to have given the fabric a new lease of life that is no doubt going to make a few brides smile on their special day and be treasured for a lifetime.

Ooh dont you just love Autumn, it was only a few weeks back I was walking along in a pair of sandals through crunchy brown leaves, but now the wetter and slightly colder weather has definitely moved in. One thing that hasn't changed is the beautiful, tones, textures and crispness of a gorgeous Autumnal Day.

Earlier this year we were part of a fabulous photo shoot alongside Tierney Photography and Laurra from One Life Ceremonies at the stunning Goldsborough Hall in Harrogate. I loved this venue especially the grounds, where we came across some cute trees that were ideal for the backdrop of this shoot.

It was a great day and a pleasure to work alongside so many enthusiastic suppliers. We got some great shots, so enjoy looking!

Hi everyone, I'm Fern and have always dreamed of being a wedding planner. Lovely Laura at Little White Book is letting me intern with her at the moment, which is amazing! This is my first inspiration board, using fresh citrus colours which are beautiful for a spring/summer wedding and look amazing with crisp whites or softer cream colours, bringing the countryside inside for a lovely airy light look. I also love the idea of using mirrors to reflect light and the natural colours of your venue!

It seems like a million moons ago since I did this absolutely stunning shoot with the fabulous Laurra from One Life Ceremonies and Mark from Mark Tierney Photography at the stunning Goldsborough Hall. Laurra contacted me with an idea of doing an utterly fabulous shoot and I thought with her choice of venue it would be perfect for doing our own mini royal wedding shoot.

Laurra asked me to get involved with the styling so on the morning of the shoot armed with my suitcase of goodies and wedding accessories, off we went to Goldsborough Hall.

Kerry from Mimosa Flowers made a beautiful and very fitting bouquet and Amanda Mason did the make-up for our very own princess.

Our second helping of real weddings this week comes from talented Manchester photographer Neil Redfern. Neil never fails to impress me with his eye for a 'good shot' and looking through his work its hard to find one that doesn't hit the right notes.

I absolutely love this wedding, just everything about it, from the kitsch little yellow butterflies to the moody sky shots that Neil captured perfectly. Angela and Anthony tied the knot at the Our Lady and Apostles Church in Stockport and moved on to a venue I adore, the Maynard, Derbyshire.

Angela looks stunning her gown and just never stops smiling in all her photographs, it looked like a fabulous day enjoyed by a gorgeous couple.

The Vintage Bridal Soiree - The Promo Shoot

I know you all you lovely readers know about the Vintage Bridal Soiree I have been planning along with a few other ladies, (if you don't not to worry just click here for my last post!!). But I really really wanted to share these pictures from the promotional shoot.

I roped in the gorgeous Laurra from One Life Ceremonies to be our model for the day, and called on one of my friends Katy from Serendipity Photography to do what she does best and shoot the entire thing.

Of course there was a whole lotta other fabbie suppliers involved in the day; the lovely Francesca from Choola let us use a divine gown known in the industry as a Wallace Simpson. Rachel from bespoke big day lent us some gorgeous shoes and then the lovely Debbie from Debbie Carlisle Bouquets, lent us the bouquets and fabulous head wear.

We set off to The Chimney House, where the actual event is going to take place, I mean how more perfect was the setting a gorgeous Victorian venue steeped in history of a bygone era. It was an amazing time, I loved and I am super happy with the stunning work by everyone involved, thank you all so much xxx

Little White Books 2nd Birthday!!!!

Wow!! Its been a fabulous couple of years for Little White Book and to celebrate two years of trading I decided it was only right to throw a party for some of my fabbiest friends. It was a great night with lots of food and cocktails (quite possibly too many cocktails!)

It really was an amazing night and I would like to thank everyone who made it and to everyone who has made this journey possible.

Trashing the dress with Serendipity Photography

So after not much persuasion, and talking about this trash the dress shoot I did with the fabulous Serendipity Photography, I wanted to share with you a couple of *out takes* from behind the scenes.

I did the shoot back in March, not long after all that awful snow so it was FREEZING COLD. I made the dress from a peach eighties beauty and we decided on a gorgeous location in some local woods.

My friend Catherine from Petalis supplied us with a stunning, woodland inspired bouquet, and with my wellies on we were ready to rock.

So the shoot started well, except for Katy's Flash falling into the stream (eek!). Katy was so professional and made me feel completely at ease. She got some amazing shots you can click here for a previous post I blogged. As we made our way back, I decided it would be cool to climb into a tree, but to do this I had to climb/crawl up a steep banking.

It was going well until the banking started to crumble and I did a comedy slide back down on my belly, I salvaged the dress! But the result were these funky stripes down my legs!!!

Then we thought it would be cool to throw wet leaves in the air around my head. Unfortunately so did a group of random walkers with one particular chap getting rather carried away!

And here is said walker hunting for more leaves to throw, by this point in my face!

Grey Wedding Cakes, Really???

So everyone is shouting from the rooftops about the colour grey being a key colour in the wedding industry at the moment. For bridesmaids, I love it, decorations I guess it can look nice, but what about wedding cakes?

I had to really think about this one, would they look like lumps of cement on a pretty stand or can you have a chic grey wedding cake? I'll let you take a look at the pictures below and make up your own mind!

So you guys all know what huge fan of Paul Von Rieter's I am, just check out this amazing engagement shoot he did! I love everything about it, and the couple look super happy and so in love. The shoot took place out in the lengendary haunted* Blackstar Canyon. There is certainly nothing scary about this shoot, which the ever so talented Paul captured to perfection.

*Oh and by the way Paul I took on your dare and after reading all the ghost stories and myths about Blackstar Canyon I have a serious case of the heebie jeebies*

Ok so I recently stumbled across this amazing photographer based out in Calafornia, Paul Von Rieter. I instantly fell in love with Paul's unique style and the way he interprets his bride and grooms special days.

His photography is by far some of the best I have seen, and he recently featured in New York Times. Anyone taking advantage of the wedding packages he offers will not be disappointed. Even though he is based in Newport Beach don't despair, Paul travels the globe with his camera sharing his talent with brides around the world.

So without further ado, let me introduce the wedding of Lauren and Brian. A stunning harbour wedding out in Newport Beach, it was a a gorgeous day as I am sure you will agree!

I have seen paint the dress slowly coming over from America, trash the dress is really huge over there. In the UK brides are a little more reserved when it comes to destroying their bridal gown. It doesn't seem like five minutes since I shared with you the wedding of Barbara and Tim. The photographer Andrea Langer of Tag 7 Photography, was the genius behind the camera. Andrea contacted me again with this gorgeous wedding in Arosa Switzerland. A winter wonderland with snow everywhere, clear blue sky and warm sunshine.

There has been a lot of talk about brides shunning the traditional white dress, and opting for something more stylish. When Andrea Langer of Tap 7 Photography submitted this city chic wedding, I had to share. It is one of the most stunning weddings I have seen, and oozes 'in the city glamour'.

In 2008 I was lucky enough to be whisked away to Paris, a birthday present from my lovely partner. Paris is such a romantic city and I was in heaven sitting in the famous French Patisserie Laudree, on the most beautiful Avenue in the world Champs Elysées.

Laudree have released a range of designer boxes filled with delicious macaroons, a little box of heaven.

The Louboutin boxes are fabulous for older fashionista bridesmaids while the chic disney boxes are perfect for younger bridesmaids.

I wanted to share with you some photographs of the first wedding I worked on. Working with Amy and Charlie was so much fun, the theme of the wedding was romantic fun. This was because of the amount of young children attending.

Amy wanted to ensure that all the children had plenty of space to run around and play. They decided on getting married at Sheffield Botanical Gardens with the reception taking place later at The Rutland Hotel. A Christmas Fairytale Wedding

Christmas weddings are so beautiful so when Leila and Steven contacted Little White Book with their ideas for a perfect Christmas wedding, how could we refuse?

The Christmas theme was reflected through everything from the scarlet bridal gown to the silver Christmas Cracker favours. Tables were named after the Bride and Grooms favourite Christmas Carols, including Silver Bells. The overall look was clean crisp white with touches of scarlet to co-ordinate with the bridal gown, even the wedding cake was painted with small iridescent snowflakes. The look was finished with masses of candles which were placed throughout the room in small tea light holders and gave the guests a warm welcoming.

The wedding reception took place in Sheffield Cathedral, which was quite literally a god send after problems with the initial venue. Guests were welcomed into Sheffield Cathedral Gallery with a glass of bubbly, and took their places for the wedding breakfast, which was a Yorkshire theme, most guessed this from the carefully placed bottles of Henderson's Relish on each table. Guests enjoyed Yorkshire puddings the size of elephant ears filled with sausage and mash potatoes, with thick onion gravy courtesy of Yorkie's Catering.

With all the hard work done, and the party in full swing I made my excuses and left a very happy Bride and Groom to enjoy the rest of their night.
